Who Can Register as an MSME?

Any of the following can apply for MSME registration:

  • Individuals
  • Startups
  • Business owners
  • Private and public companies
  • Partnership firms
  • Sole proprietorships
  • Co-operative societies
  • Trusts
  • Self Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs)

Documents Needed for MSME Registration

You do not need to upload many documents. Only these are needed:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • PAN Card

If your business has a GST number, it will be picked automatically from the government system and No fees are charged for MSME registration.

How to Register for MSME (Udyam Registration)

The registration is done online only on the government website at https://udyamregistration.gov.in

For New Entrepreneurs (Not registered before)

  1. Go to the Udyam registration portal.
  2. Click on "For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME."
  3. Enter your Aadhaar number and name.
  4. Click “Validate and Generate OTP.”
  5. Enter the OTP received on your mobile.
  6. Enter your PAN number and validate it.
  7. Fill in your business details (name, location, type of activity, etc.).
  8. Enter your investment and turnover details.
  9. Click “Submit and Get Final OTP.”
  10. After submission, you will receive your MSME certificate by email.

For Existing UAM Holders

If you already have a UAM (Udyog Aadhaar), follow these steps:

  1. Click on “For those having registration as UAM.”
  2. Enter your Udyog Aadhaar Number.
  3. Select where you want to receive the OTP (mobile or email).
  4. Enter the OTP and validate it.
  5. Update your information and submit the form.

MSME Registration Certificate

Once you register successfully, you will get an MSME Certificate (also called Udyam Certificate). This certificate will have:

  • Your business name
  • Udyam Registration Number (19-digit number)
  • A QR code to verify your business

You can print or download your certificate anytime from the Udyam portal.

How to Download the MSME Certificate?

  1. Visit the Udyam portal.
  2. Click “Print Udyam Certificate.”
  3. Enter your Udyam Registration Number and mobile number.
  4. Choose the OTP option and click "Validate & Generate OTP."
  5. After entering OTP, you can download and print your certificate.
